On the morning of Thursday, February 13th, we kicked off the second business tour of the year, eager for another round of insightful company visits. This time, our journey started with a visit to VORM at the Kaai. Here we have had a company presentation which was followed by a tour through the old factory of Unilever: the Kaai.
After the tour, we had a great lunch with everyone from VORM, after we presented a thank-you gift.
After our visit to the Kaai, the group left by bus to go to the World Trade Centre to visit our next company: Fakton. At the office of Fakton, we first got an introduction of the company. We learned more about what Fakton exactly does for their clients and applied this within a case study. The case study was financially oriented and based on investment decision-making. After an intense but rewarding session, Fakton selected a winning team and we concluded the day with a well-deserved drink.
Following was a quick stop at our hotel on the Witte de Wit, where we also had dinner at the iconic Bazaar restaurant where we enjoyed a shared meal with each other. Our evening concluded with an exploration of the nightlife of Rotterdam.
The next morning, our group - energized and ready for another day- headed to the Port of Rotterdam where Van der Bouw was hosting their part of the Business Tour. We started the trip with a boat ride to the other side of Rotterdam, where Van der Bouw welcomed us with a presentation of their organization and the unique location of their project. After that, we walked around the area for a bit to learn more about all the projects that are located there and worked on by Van der Bouw. Afterwards, we had lunch with each other and reflected on where we had been.
After a delightful lunch, we made our way to our final stop: Boelens de Gruyter. We met up at MotelOne, one of their most known projects in Rotterdam. Here, we got a tour of the building and some of the hotel rooms. The tour was followed by a short walk to the world trade centre where we got a small presentation about the company and the projects they are working on. Following, we started on a small case, which we also presented to the group. Afterwards, a winner was selected, and we wrapped up with a fun borrel, exchanging thank-you gifts and reflecting on the incredible experiences of the past two days. This second tour was another great success, providing valuable insights into the real estate and construction industries.
This was the last Business Tour of this year, but we are looking forward to the international business tour, which will take us to Florence and Rome!
